Since "Johnny Reb" did not pick up the name "Wiley Cauthron" under the 1st Arkansas Consolidated Infantry regiment, my guess would be that he was absent sick by April 30, 1863 and possibly discharged. What we don't know is whether the company muster roll covering March & April 1863 for Company B, 15th Arkansas survived the war. If this muster roll survived, his status, whatever it was, would have been noted.

You need to find someone who has studied the records of all of the men from the 15th Arkansas to answer this question. My recommendation is that you repost your query on the Arkansas CWMB and ask specifically for Bryan Howerton's input. Bryan has studied Arkansas regiments in some detail.
