Re: AR/TN Units joining at Vicksburg?

Dear Ma'am,

You may want to check and see if he was wounded in one of the battles prior to the capitulation of Vicksburg. Remember that several battles that took place prior to the actual seige. Raymond, Jackson, Baker's Creek (a.k.a. Champion's Hill), Big Black, and Edward's Station to name a few. The men that were wounded largely did not return to the garrison at Vicksburg but ended up in Confederate hospitals in Enterprise and Meridan. The captured made their way through the Federal prison system during the following weeks and were exchanged at City Point, Virginia during the last week of June and the first couple weeks in July. Therefore, they would not have been present for the seige or the surrender.
