Jim, I had considered Broadfoot at one time, but soon noted that they use the same microfilm that NARA has, thus in my opinion offer nothing unique, and quite pricey as you said. I also noted they promised fast service but as I see they are not so fast after all. I am neither a historian nor a professional of any kind, just a retired person (quite young, I retired at 52, three yrs ago) who has the time and energy to do lots of layman research. It's an 80 mile drive to Nashville for me but sometimes it's worth it, especially if I'm going to be there anyway for some other reason. I grew up in Tennessee, Lawrence Co., down in the area where the 32nd and Nixon's 48th Regiment came from. My Newtons were some of the pioneers of that area in the first decade or so after the Chickasaws gave it up in 1816. I have particular interest in the 32nd Tn. Regiment as my gg grandfather Joshua Newton and his brother Aaron were in Co. C of this regiment. I am currently working on the paper trail of Aaron's war experience, which has turned into a very interesting tale. If you are interested in this little gem of history I have found I can email you what info I have so far.
