Jeff, my ggg-grandfather James Madison Sherrer of the 28th Alabama Infantry was captured at Franklin & sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago. He survived and returned home, many did not. Camp Douglas had a very high death rate among Confederate prisoners. You might want to check the prisoner & burial records there, if you don't find your ancestor in TN.
