Union Bushwhackers in Pall Mall

I thought I would post a query to this group to see if I can gain any further information on my 3 greats grandfather Frederick Highsaw of Murray's 4th Tenn. Cav.1861-1862; he also served as Fredrick Hisaw in the 25th Tenn. Inf. 1863 (Confed) He is listed as desereted in March 1863 from the Inf. The record is blank until his death near his home in the Pall Mall region in March of 1865, killed by bushwhackers. Tradition has that his nephew pulled the trigger. I was wondering if there would be any newspaper accounts of this slaying and where they may be located. Thank you for any assistance you may provide.
