Some time ago, Kenneth Byrd, wrote a fascinating account of the battle of Fort Henry on his website. My understanding is that the garrison was emptied except for the few cannoneers who fought against the formidable Yankee gun boats. I wonder why I never found more published information about their exploits. Can anyone, perhaps Ken, cite some resources?
