I made no mention re the pistol yesterday but yes I agree with you on the fact that studio held props but it could be possible that the pistol was his. It looks like its a Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver as I mentioned in my link but info has come into me that he owned an Eli Whitney 1855 (Pocket pistol?) I have, at the moment, been unable to find any pictures on the 3 weapons that Eli Whitney produced that year, I tried various pages on Google etc. so have been unable to check.
