Re: Henry French in the 10th TN. Cavalry

Ms. Davis,

You may want to go back and check you initials again and ensure your timeline on your ancestor is correct.

The Henry French that served with the 10th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment was in Company C. The men from this company were from Decatur and Hickman Counties.

A Henry S. French (born 1809, Virginia) was in Davidson County in the 1860 Federal Census. Wife named Catherine. Don't always seeing the same wife through a person's life. Mortality was high and they would remarry. Because of his age and that he owned about ten slaves, I doubt he would have served a day in the military, especially as a private soldier.

A Henry C. French was in Henry County in the 1860 Federal Census, however, he was 8 years old.

A couple of Henry French's served in Federal Tennessee Regiments but they died during the war.

I hope this helps some.

Respectfully,
