Re: Henry French in the 10th TN. Cavalry

Ms. Davis,

No. It is doubtful that the Compiled Military Service Record would contain this information either unless he was captured and swore allegience to the U.S. and then it would have a card with age, county of origin, and a basic physical description. If this Henry French was killed or died while in service, the widow could have petitioned the Confederate Government through the County Court Clerk for the balance of his pay and allowances. Sometimes this can be found in the CMSR. He nor his widow filed for an Indigent Soldier's or Widow's Pension in Tennessee postwar. If you are located in Tennessee, there several locations you can look at these records.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Respectfully,

Gerald D. Hodge, Jr.
