I am interested in information about a Confederate soldier, James Benton Neil, of the 17th Tennessee Infantry (Company F). He enlisted on May 18, 1861 and was a hospital steward (surgeon?). He surrendered at Appomattox on April 9, 1865. He is buried at the Mount Olivet cemetery in Nashville. He has his surgery instruments and saddle bags on display at the Carter House museum in Franklin. Thanks!
