Sam
The reunion sword is in the possession of a cousin in California. The family, here in the Nashville area, is trying to retrieve it so that it may be donated to the Carter House. The collection curently contains the long grey coat, black felt hat, medical saddlebags, a pocket watch and a hand carved flute. J B Neil was a hospital steward or surgeon's assistant in the 17th Tennessee Infantry. He surrendered with what was left of the unit with Gen Robert E Lee at Appomattox. He became an MD after the war and is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN.
