It was almost two years ago that I discovered Colonel James Wendell Gillespie's grave too, there at old Washington, Rhea Co., TN. You're right - it's neat. There's no Confederate colonels buried here in Kansas that I'm aware. The Colonel and my GG-Gm were first cousins. The cemetery has some nice timber but it is grown with weeds. There could be other Confederates buried there.
