Daily Arkansas Gazette, article 21 Jan 1872, page 2, column3, <http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tn/shelby/newspapers/thedeadc7nw.txt> concerns her poem "The Dead Confederacy", <http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tn/shelby/newspapers/thedeadc2nw.txt> written in Princeton, Arkansas in 1865, published in London's Cosmopolitan 21 Dec 1871, referencing to Father Ryan's famous poem "The Lost Cause" the printed the week before and implying he provided them with Fanny's poem They, readily, praised the young poetess.
