B.H. Duvall

Comrades –

I am trying to identify a Confederate officer named Capt. B. H. Duvall.

He is mentioned on pages 324, 326, and 335 of Scott and Angel’s History of the 13th Regiment Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry USA and pages 321-326, 350, 367, 368, 371-372 of Thrilling Adventures of Daniel Ellis.

Scott and Angel state that he “had charge of the military force at Elizabethton” in August 1863.

Ellis said he was from Louisville, KY, and led a force into Carter and Johnson Counties in December, 1864.

Both accounts, as you might guess, depict him as rather the ruthless scoundrel, persecuting Union civilians.

Thanks,

Allen
