Alan,
True the command had its share of bad eggs. Many of them very bad.Part of the problem seems to have stemmed from Prentices loose control of his men. They were never completely togather as a unit but were scattered about in small groups. At any one time some were acting as homeguards, some were raiders, some scouts and couriers. This seemed to disturb the Confederate High Command in the area until Morgan used them as they were.Evan though much bad is recorded about them(and doubtless alot of it earned)they fought.Elements of the Battalion fought somewhere in Ky.,Tenn.,Va.,or North Carolina almost everyday.I dont want to change thier reputation only record everything they did both good and bad. There is much more out there than what we currently know.Men like Weaver,Walden,Osborne and others have done a good job and given us a great starting point.I just want to know more.
