Re-burial of TN Confederate

Board: I don't think it would be inappropriate to post this info here. Several TN SCV Camps are reburying a Confederate soldier and his family this Saturday. Here's the info.

------------------

We have a unique opportunity. We have been asked to provide the honor guard and musket salute for the re-interment of an actual Confederate soldier. We will also provide 8 pall-bearers.

Pvt James M Northcross, 10th Miss Inf, CSA. His body has been located in an old family cemetery in Collierville, TN and the family has asked that his remains, and those of his family, be reinterred in the Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, near his compatriots.

We have been asked to provide an authentic Confederate military burial, and I can think of no better honor than this. We will certainly provide this.

Men: full CS uniform with musket and accoutrements
Ladies: period dress, mourning dress if possible.
PLEASE BE THERE BY 1:00 P.M., this Saturday, July 22, 2006

SCV Members:
Men of the Wigfall Greys SCV, the N. B. Forrest Camp SCV, and all other area camps are invited and requested to participate in this momentous event.

SCV members are requested to bring flags and march in our procession in the cemetery.

Uniformed SCV members will make up the color guard. The Wigfall Greys will lead the flag procession.

Reverend Gary Roper will be presiding.

The 52nd Regimental String Band will provide music.

Magnolia Cemetery, Collierville, TN -- The cemetery is a couple of blocks southeast of the town square at the corner of S. Mt. Pleasant Rd and Keough Road.

DIRECTIONS:
There are 2 ways to get there.

(1) go east on Poplar Ave to Collierville. Turn south on Hwy 72 and go about 2 1/2 miles to Quinn Road.
Turn left on Quinn and this heads back toward town and right to the cemetery.

or

(2) go east on Poplar Ave thru Collierville, past Hwy 72, past Main Street. Turn right on S. Mt. Pleasant Road, cross the RR tracks and go 2 more blocks to the cemetery.

This service will be a rare occasion for our lifetime -- the burial of a real Confederate veteran.

All are welcome. Bring the family.

Lee Millar, Captain, Commanding
