Re: John Lindsley's Confederate memorial roll

Gerald,

Have you seen other mistakes such as this in Lindsley's memorials? This brave man sure deserves to have his name spelled correctly, but it'll never happen.

The CWSS lists only three men with the last name Souell, two from Mississippi, one from Georgia. None have P.C. as initials.

The CWSS has Paschal C. Sorrell (47th TN. Inf. Co. E) as the spelling. Sometimes the U's are difficult to discern in records. Whoever transcribed the record just made an error, the two rr's probably looked like a U.

I noticed P.C. Sorrell 47th TN. Inf. Co. E on my family listing at rootsweb & he was listed as killed at Murfreesboro. I then looked up the memorial rolls & discovered the error.

He is actually not a direct ancestor of mine, he was the brother in law of my gg granduncle Sgt. William A. Flowers 4th Tn. Inf. Co. K.

Thanks,
DMW
