I recently received from the HQ of the SCV, at Elm Springs, excerpts from his diary 1864 - 1865. Mostly weather reports and such observations. In some places he would mention good news or bad news from different localities, but did not write down what the news was. Mentions meeting many various civilians (friends, family), various Generals and writes about staying at many civilian homes. He writes about going on some raids with Forrest and about catching up with his corps as it re-enters Tennessee from Georgia and about arriving at Franklin after that sad affair. Apparently he was still attached to the army in some way, but how and as what, I do not know.
