Randy Rubel is somewhat related to Edward Plummer Martin. E. P. Martin lived at Big Rock, Stewart County, TN. He made out his Tennessee Confederate pension application on November 2, 1914. The application was filed November 18, 1914 and given application number 14,555. The application was accepted. Mr. Martin was born September 4, 1844 in Dickson County, TN. He enlisted in August 1862 in John Minor's company of Col. Alonzo Napier's TN Cavalry, later designated Napier's TN Cavalry Battalion, and later by consolidation as Co. E, 10 TN Cavalry. On his application he stated, "From Aug. 1864 to April 1865 was on special duty under Gen. Forest orders and the last orders I had from him near Florence, Ala., was to report to the famous Capt. Jack Hinson, who would aid in destroying telegraff lines between Johnsonville and Nashville and between Clarksville, Fort Donelson & Nashville."
