Thank you for your post Jamie. Unfortunately I have already researched those Gothards in the Civil War Pension Index (and other searches) and did not find a connection to Kate Gotherd (that's the surname spelling on the 1890 Veteran's Schedule). I believe I have checked all the various spellings of "Gothard" in the Pension Index and still unable to make connection. I have been told that there was only one unit out of Rhea County, TN and that was "Company B, 9th Tennessee Calvary" and I will try researching that as well. Thanks again for your reply.
