This man IS Gustavus Brandau. He served in both the 9th and 11th Tennessee Cavalry. I have both his service records and his pension file, which as I stated earlier, is over 200 pages.

Had you tried to order this pension file from the National Archives? I agree, with anything unusual, such as a misspelling, you're going to have a real problem with the archives. Our researchers here are History-Sites.Com are research and history experts that give personal service.
