Mark,
I have no easier access to NARA records than anyone else. I recently put in a request for a record for a family member and I know I have a long wait ahead of me before I see it.

The Zacahariah Walker angle is nothing more than a possiblity I threw out. I have no proof and doubt I could find any. I have my doubts about Jenks being improperly documented as Isaac Walker. None of the killed from the battle were identified when/if they were reinterred to the National Cemetery. There is nothing to suggest this occured. What we know for sure is that somehow an administrative error occured when the Roll of Honor was compiled. Perhaps the unknown individual was from another regiment and was improperly listed as being in the 14th Iowa due to a slip of the pen or a tired individual making an improper entry.
