Maybe, but it's much more likely both Cunninghams came from the counties where the company origanized. In my experience Confederate companies are usually about 85% native. If your ancestor survived the war and lived in Tennessee as late as the 1890s, it's quite likely he applied for a pension unless he knew he did not qualify for one.
