I took a look at your url and found it interesting. It is good to read about individual soldiers. My own G-G Grandfather was mortally wounded on October 1, 1864 fending off some Union Cavalry Skirmishers at Laurel Gap just prior to the 1ST Battle of Saltville. As a native of the town it is good to find other people interested in the battles. As to your ancestor and health problems, after the 2nd battle in December, 1864 the Federal troops had a horrific time moving back into Kentucky, due to the extremely bad weather.
