I am looking for some help on where I need to put my efforts in finding service records for my gg grandfather.

His grave is a registered CSA grave in Iuka, MS. and the information on the grave registration card from the Mississippi Dept. of Archives & History indicates that James H. Goode was a Priviate, Co. E with the 2nd Tenn Infantry. Enlisted April 17, 1862 and was discharged on April 26th, 1865. His residence was in Iuka, MS in 1860 along with the rest of his family. He died in 1928 and is buried in the same area.

This same information appears on the 1911 Veterans enumeration census roll in Iuka, MS.

The problem arises in that when trying to locate a service record for him through Broadfoot's Publishing, they say his name does not appear on the microfilm for this unit.

His brother was with the 2nd MS Infantry Co. K.,and I have obtained his records, and in doing some follow up research on the 2nd MS rosters thinking there might be a mistake between the 2nd TN and the 2nd MS, James's Name does not appear on any of those Company Rosters with the 2nd MS.

The 2nd Tenn Infantry also seems a little confusing to track unit history on also.

Any help or direction is appreciated.
