TURNEY, Albert. Pvt. *Residence Lincoln Co., florid complexion, gray eyes, auburn hair, farmer. Enr. at Boons Hill 10 Nov 62, aged about 18; admitted 18 Dec 62 to Winder Hosp, Division No. 5, Richmond, VA; wounded in foot at Chancellorsville, VA, 3 May 63; wounded at Gettysburg, PA, 3 July 63; presumed to have been captured at the same battle, having been paroled and sent to parole camp since had been returned with instructions that he had not been exchanged; appears on a detachment of paroled and exchanged prisoners at Camp Lee, near Richmond, VA, dated 23 Nov 63; captured 5 Dec 63 at Ackland, West VA; released 14 Dec 63 from the Military Prison at Wheeling, VA, after taking the oath.*

TURNEY, Henry L. Pvt. *Born Lincoln Co., 5'10", fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, farmer. Enr. 29 Apr 61 at Boons Hill, aged 22; killed at Seven Pines, VA, 31 May 62.*

TURNEY, Jacob B. 2nd Ltn/Capt. *Residence Boons Hill. Enr. 29 Apr 61 at Winchester as 2nd Ltn., aged 30; elected Ltn. replacing I.G. DAVIDSON, killed at Lynchburg, VA, 18 May 61; promoted to Capt 27 Apr 62 and replaced as 2nd Ltn by George GARRETT; wounded at Gaines Mill, VA, 27 June 62; wounded slightly in hand and concussion at Fredericksburg, VA, 13 Dec 62; detailed for court martial 9 Mar 63; wounded in leg at Chancellorsville, VA, 3 May 63; captured at Gettysburg, PA, 3 July 63; forwarded to Point Lookout, MD, for exchange 14 Mar 65. He died at his home near Hughey, TN, 19 March 1909, aged 77.*

TURNEY, James. Pvt. *Residence Lincoln Co., 6'1", florid complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, teacher. Enr. 29 Apr 61 at Boons Hill, aged 24; pre sent to Nov & Dec 61; wounded in thigh at Second Manassas, VA, 29 Aug 62; wounded and furloughed home to Dec 62; deserted 5 Dec 63 at Ackland, West VA, and forwarded 13 Dec 63 to the Military Prison at Wheeling, West VA, where he took the oath and was sent north. His obituary in the "Fayetteville Observer" for 23 March 1905, p2: read: "On Sunday afternoon, March 19, 1905, Mr. James Turney died at the State Asylum, near Nashville, aged about 68 years. He was admitted to that institution March 30, 1874, and has remained there since. The remains were taken to Hughey Tuesday for burial. He was a brother of Capt. Jake Turney and served during the war under the stars and bars, and on many a bloody field endangered life and employed his every energy for the defense of his loved Southland. He was a man of superior intelligence and after the war engaged in teaching school; he was also of an intensely religious disposition and was a factor in his community for good until his mind weakened. He was taken to the asylum, hoping that treatment would restore his reason to its throne, but these hopes were never realized."*

TURNEY, Joel T. Pvt. Born Lincoln Co., 5'11", fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, farmer. Enr. 29 Apr 61 at Boons Hill, aged 25; killed at Gaines Mill, VA, 27 June 62.*
