The Tennessee in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Winfrey Scott , soldier from Fayette, TN

I appreciate the ideas you are all coming up with. There seem to be three Winfreys. One was the Winfrey Bond Scott who was a Civil War soldier from LA. Another was the Winfrey Scott b. about 1838 from near Little Rock in Benton, Saline Co, AR, also in the Civil War. Then there is my Winfrey Scott b. 1816 KY from Fayette, TN, possibly died before, during, or after the Civil War.

There was mention of a Winfrey Scott in a letter written by David O Dodd from Publications of The Ark Historical Association. This is part of the letter,

"The Feds did not get to Monroe and I reckon my trunk is there. Pa talks about going over there before he comes back here from Mobile. I am not needing anything that is in my trunk, and if you can get it back to Little Rock that would be best. I told Winfry Scott to inquire for it, and if he found it to take it back with him."

That is probably the Winfrey from Benton Co, AR.

Anyway. Thanks to everyone for the information and ideas. Every little bit is a huge help and might be the key to finding him.
