I do believe he simply died of disease. His military records (which is all there is, no pension file) states only that he died on April 4, 1862. I know that there was a skimish at Montery, Tennessee on April 3...but the records only say "April 4, 1862 died". So you see that it does not say wounded and died, or killed, just died which leads me to really believe that he died of some of the ususal diseases. Elaine Day
