Here are two long shots.

George Martin

There was a James Perry who served in (2nd) Company H of the 14th (Neely's) Cavalry enlisting December 1, 1863 in Sommerville, Tennessee. [This appears to be the only surviving company muster roll]

2nd Co. "H" Captain James Gwyne. From 17th (Marshall's) Regiment. Men from Moscow and Somerville, Fayette County. http://www.tngenweb.org/civilwar/csacav/csa14cav.html
.................

Also a J. S. Perry, who enlisted July 20,1863 in Company (1st) E, 14th Tennessee (Neely's) Cavalry, no furtther records [Cannot read where he enlisted]

Captain Charles R. Harris, Co. "E". Organized July 20, 1863 at Gadsden, Crockett County

The 14th (also called 13th and Neely's) Regiment Tennessee Cavalry was organized with ten companies in August, 1863. About February 5, 1864, the regiment was consolidated into eight companies and two companies of what was to have been the 17th (Marshall's) Regiment Tennessee Cavalry were added.

The regiment appears to have been consolidated with the 15th (Consolidated), 21st (Carter's) and 22nd (Nixon's) Regiments Tennessee Cavalry and formed Nixon's Regiment Tennessee Cavalry which was paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, in May 1865

14th Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry (Neely's)

14th (Neely's) Cavalry Regiment [also called 13th Regiment] was recruited behind Federal lines in Hardeman, Gibson, Madison, Haywood, and Crockett counties. It was organized at Okolona, Mississippi, in August, 1863, with only 400 men, as some were captured before they could reach the Confederate lines. The unit was assigned to R.V. Richardson's and Rucker's Brigade, and skirmished in West Tennessee and Mississippi. Later it was active with Forrest in Middle Tennessee, supported Hood's operations, moved into Mississippi, and ended the war in Alabama. The regiment surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana. Its commanders were Colonel James J. Neely, Lieutenant Colonel Raleigh R. White, and Major J. Gwynn Thurmond.
