I have read the book and did find it pretty interesting... mainly because I had a lot of family in that specific area throughout the war and it did provide an insite into what life was like on the homefront. In fact a distant cousin of mine helped out on the research for the book and a couple of relatives are mentioned briefly.
For someone without family connections or connections to that area of TN it probably would not be as interesting.
