Any of Forrest's biographers will discuss Forrest's escort at different times in their books. John Allan Wyeth's That Devil Forrest: Life of General Nathan Bedford Forrest mentions the escort company repeatedly. It's a Google Book, so you can search the text for the word 'escort' and find every reference.

Here's a publisher's reference to this book. There are several other great books on this Confederate leader.

Born in January 1848, Jordan Hale Womack must have joined in 1864 or 1865, as he is not on roll in 1862 or 1863. He received a parole with other members of the escort at Gainesville AL, May 9, 1865, the roll being dated May 10, 1865. Tennessee pension application S7019 was forwarded in his name from Lawrence County TN.
