Thanks very much. I did find Jordan Hale Womack in the book"General Nathan B. Forest's Escort and Staff" by Michael Bradley. He was at some of the reunions after the war.

From the Arkansa Historian, Vol. 17, No. 2 (page 129)Editors Note" The following information was submitted by Mrs. T. O. Bigger, Tn. "Michael Womack, was born in 1794 in Va, moved to Bedford county, Tn, enlisted as a private under Captain Barrett, West Tn, Militia. He was at the Battle of New Orleans Jan. 8, 1815, with General Andrew Jackson and that it was generally known that this Tn. marksman, was stationed behind some cotton bales and that he was the soldier that fired the fatal shot that killed British General Packenham" Michael Womack was the grandfather of Jordan Hale Womack. I would like to know more about this....
