He enlisted at Cumberland Gap for 9-1/2 months on Aug. 1, 1861. Obviously that term of service was extended, as he remained with the regiment until surviving officers and men surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse on Apr. 9, 1865.

If I'm not mistaken, all Confederate soldiers from Tennessee were listed on a "Roll of Honor" commissioned by the Tennessee State legislature.
