Samantha --

You have specific information concerning 1st Lieut. John A. Kelsey in a post by George Martin. A man who worked as a master carpenter would normally be called a building contractor today.

This company organized at Rheatown on Sept. 18, 1862. Officers were Capt. Nathan Dodd, age 45; 1st Lieut. John W. Byerly, age 29, 2nd Lieut. John A. Kelsey, age 32, 2nd Lieut. Daniel Brittan, age 30. all were residents of Greene County. Captain Dodd worked as a millwright, while Daniel Brittain worked as a blacksmith.
