Paul...Did some more digging...Ben W Darsey published his 23 page pamphlet of the raid for 10 cents in 1891 Statesboro,Ga.Probably available localy or in the Georgia Archives.However,as you know Ben was in the 5th.Georgia Cavalry,General Felix Robertson's Brigade which also included the 3,8,10 and 12th Confederate Cavalry Regiments.Robertson's Brigade was also a day or so behind Wheeler and most likely not at or near Franklin on September 2nd.So would be nothing in Darsey's account regarding your ancestor.

General Wheeler's Biography has some general details of the fight on the 2nd.but does not mention anything specific of the Georgia Cavalry.

You might check with Tim Burgess,he has a data base of known Confederate soldiers who fell in middle Tennessee around this time.I can only speculate your ancestor may lie in an unmarked grave somewhere near the RR south of Franklin perhaps near Parry,Tennessee today.
