This regiment was mostly used as a personal guard to Andrew Johnson at the Capitol building. The capitol was a frequent target of raids from General's John Hunt Morgan and General Forrest. I have done extensive work on Gillem, who was the commander of the Tennessee Governor's Guard, which was later formed by Gillem for the purpose of guarding Johnson, the Capitol, and the railroad supply lines.
