By the way, could you tell me where this Ft. Gillem Cemetery is? I did a google search and found nothing. I might could find some of Gillem's men buried there; or do you mean the Nashville National Cemetery? By the way, the "why" here is very simple. Johnson was a Union man from East Tennessee, he was the military governor of Tennessee and situated at the capitol. Nashville lay on the direct Union supply line from Louisville, Ky and naturally was always under fire from the Rebels. The divided loyalties of Tennessee are always a common subject of debate.
