I am a geneologist too and have found five Confederate grandfathers and two federals. If you had ancestors in the south in 1860 you all have them. I had an uncle and ten cousins in Co.F,5th.Texas Partisan Rangers. As you are aware, James Wetsel is a familiar name in Collin County and there has been much written up on that family. If you have not already, check out the book,"The Annals of Elder R.C.Horn". Horn served with your ancestor in Co.K and he has included much on the daily activities of the 5th Texas Partisan Rangers. It is not indexed however,so I am not able to quickly see if he mentions James Wetsel.

Good hunting..
