Just another reminder to both of you and to others researching ancestors in the 5th Texas Partisan Rangers (and other Texas units that fought in the Indian Territory):

The Oklahoma Historical Society's Honey Springs Battlefield Historic Site is seeking "biographical summaries" of all participants in this engagement (17 July 1863). We would appreciate having any or all of the following information: birth date/place, parents, spouse(s), children, pre-war occupation, wartime service, post-war occupation, death date/burial place.

We will frame and hang the biographies on three walls of the audio/visual room in our new Interpretive Center. Those we receive first will have the longest display time (until we're forced by sheer number to "rotate" them). So -- there's no deadline, but please keep us in mind.

Our e-mail address is honeysprings@ok-history.mus.ok.us. Our snail-mail address is 1863 Honey Springs Battlefield Road, Checotah, OK 74426-6301. Our phone is 918-473-5572.

P.s. Other Texas units which fought here included [Roswell W.] Lee's Light Battery of Texas Artillery, the 20th Texas Cavalry (Dismounted), the 29th Texas Cavalry, Gillette's Squadron of Texas Cavalry, and Scanland's Squadron of Texas Cavalry.
