Re: 14th Texas Cavalry
In Response To: 14th Texas Cavalry ()

The 14th Texas Cavalry was in or near Columbus, Mississippi in June 1862. My GG grandfather, Lewis Clifton, died from disease there on June 10, 1862. He was a member of Company K which was recruited in Fort Worth and they were mustered into Confederate service in Dallas in February 1862. The Friendship Cemetery in Columbus, Mississippi has others from the 14th Texas Cavalry buried there also. I visited the cemetery in 1999 and most are marked "Unknown Confederate Soldier," however, many are identified. Ron
