There seems to have been much confusion about Texas unit designations. At times Terrell's was mistakenly labeled the 34th (actually Alexander's Dismounted Cavalry) and because Terrell's first name was Alexander it stuck for too long.

I have even had to put up with people claiming there was no 37th Texas Cavalry eventhough I have several mustering out records from the 37th Texas.
