Prisoner of war

I sent off for the service records of Newton Jasper Sisk. On one sheet it said that
N.J. Sisk, Pvt, Co. D, 6 Reg't Texas Cavalry. Residence Mantua, Tex Appears on a
Roll of Prisoners of War
of Companies of 6 Regiment Texas Cavalry, Confederate States Army, commanded by Col. Jack Wharton, surrended at Citronelle, Ala., by Lieut. Gen R Taylor, CSA, to Maj. Gen E.R.S. Canby., USA, May 4 1865 and paroled at Jackson, Miss, MAy 13, 1865.
Is this just where he agreed to not too fight anymore? Also it is said through my family that he was injured at the battle of Shiloh. How do I find out more on that? Thanks for any help, Billy
