Company K, 6th Texas was mustered in San Antonio.
Not in Stonewalls brigade, but there were several of mexican descent in that unit.

Also, Santos Benavides rose to Lt. Col. and served near Brownsville. don't recal the unit at the moment-i believe it bore his name- but he was teh highest rakning preson of Mexican descent in the CSA.

the school board is jsut using this to justify changing the name and making it moree 'palatable' for the general public to accept. but it does not make it any easier to swallow thining our educators are teaching our children ths tripe.
