Re: William A. Seaton, Lane's Reg.

Jerry,

I neglected to mention that William A. Seaton was from Carthage, Panola County, Texas, shown there in the 1860 and 1870 Census. The distance from Carthage to Marshall is about 30 miles, so it's feasible that he enlisted with the 1st Texas Cavalry from Harrison County. A fellow soldier who served with Seaton for 3 years, and testified regarding Seaton's service, also from Panola County, indicates they were in McKay's Company together. That "3 years" indicates to me that it was not the partisan troup, which you say was not formed until 1863.

Thank you for your assistance with this. I'll keep searching for information on the Texas State Troops, 1st Cavalry Reg.

Sheryl
