33d Texas Cavalry

Hello, again! A couple of months ago I received some very valuable assistance through this board, and I do appreciate it. There seems to be some very knowledgeable people on here, so I'll try again. I think there was some confusion re: L. M. Mayes(my gg-grandfather) and his affiliation with the Confederate Army. The confusion occurred due to incomplete facts on my part. Now, I have in his own handwriting on his app. for his Confederate pension, that he
"enlisted in the 33d Texas Cavalry (Col. Ja. Duff) Company C, Capt.John H. Robinson. Time of service was from the date of the organization of the Company in Travis County until the close of the war, about 3 years." My question now is, can anyone tell me exactly when this outfit was organized?
Are there any records of the Co. besides the one about the battle (massacre, to some) on the Nueces River? I would be interested in any type of history of Co. C- 33d Texas Cavalry. Thank you very much. Lois
