Hi, Craig. Yes, you are one of the fellows that helped me out last time. I learned a lot from the info you gave me re: places to look fro information. But I have never learned anything about the "Barns" in Barn's Brig. which is on L.M. Mayes headstone. And when I got the copy of his application for pension, there's another new name, that of
Capt. John H. Robinson. So now I have some new sources, thanks to you, and some new names to look for! Another interesting thing. When the Comptroller's Dept. of the State of Texas requested his records, the only thing the War Dept. had was the date of enlistment, which is Nov. 12, 1862. After doing a little review work, I feel better. He wasn't involved in the scrape on the Nueces River and I was concerned about that, for some reason. The fact that he lived out his life among the German folks made me feel that he couldn't have been in Duff's oufit when that took place.
I should think he would have been uncomfortable, at least, living all those years in Hays, Blanco, Llano and Burnet Counties. Thanks again, Craig. I'm on my way to the library now. Lois P. S.- Yes I do live in Texas. Uvalde County.
