Pvt. Benjamin A. Salles is listed in the muster rolls of Co. F, Col. James R. Archer's 5th Texas Infantry, C.S.A.

The 5th Texas Infantry regiment was approved on October 1, 1861 in Harrisburg,TX (Houston). The regiment was mustered into Confederate service at Camp Van Doren on August 7,1861 and was moved to Richmond Virginia and arrived there in September, 1861. The regiment served the entire war in the Easter Theater and was surrendered at Appomatox on April 9, 1865.
