The Texas Brigade included the 18TH GEORGIA INF., LT. COL. S.Z. RUFF. commanding and HAMPTON's SOUTH CAROLINA LEGION (INF. COS.). LT.COL. M.W. GARY commanding, at Antietam. By Gettysburg the 3rd Arkansas had replaced those two units to complete the Brigade which was a part of Hood's Division, Longstreet's First Corps, Army of Northern Virginia.
