If the National Park Service - Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System website starts working again, it would be a simple matter to compile a roster of Co. B, Col. Luckett's 3rd Texas Infantry Regiment.

In 1861, Col. Phillip Nolan Luckett's 3rd Texas Infantry Regiment was raised in San Antonio and Austin with recruits from Travis, Bexar, Kerr and surounding counties. Many German conscripts were from from Gillespie County after the massacre of Germans fleeing to Mexico on the Nueces River by James Duff's irregular partisans. In 1862, James Duff was made colonel and his Partisan Rangers became the nucleus of the 33rd Texas Cavalry Regiment and was stationed along the Texas coast for the remainder of the war.

In December 1861, Col. Luckett's 3rd Texas Infantry consisted of 648 effectives and was attached to Col.John S.Ford's Western Subdistrict and was scattered along the Rio Grande River in far south Texas until April 1864. In April 1864, the 3rd Texas Infantry was moved to Louisiana where the regiment participated in the Red River Campaign and saw action in Arkansas at Jenkins Ferry.
