Re: T. D. Williams - Bourland Service

James Bourland was re-appointed Brigadier General of the 21st Brigade, Texas State Troops on December 30, 1861, but declined the appointment. However, the 21st Brigade District did not include Fannin County. At least two companies from Fannin County, Texas were in the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas: Company B, 9th Texas Cavalry
and Company F, 11th Texas Cavalry. If T.D. Williams was in that battle, he would have likely served in one of those two units. There is a muster roll for Company B, 9th Texas Cavalry which covers the time of the battle. However, the muster rolls for Company F, 11th Texas Cavalry skip the period from January 1-August 30, 1862. T.D. Williams did serve in Company H, Bourland's Regiment, Texas Cavalry. This company was organized in Fannin County, Texas in early 1864 and included former Texas State Troops.
